Stephen Lautens JD, GCJ

Stephen Lautens has extensive experience as a senior executive in communications, business development and investor relations roles. He has been a key member of management during the growth and successful sale of public and private corporations. A lawyer by training, Stephen left his private law practice to become Vice President - Business Development of The Workflow Automation Corporation, a private software company with leading edge middleware solutions for banks, government, major corporations and other software vendors. The Workflow Automation Corporation was sold in 2000 to BEA Systems, Inc. (now Oracle Corporation) for $46 million.

 Following the sale of Workflow Automation, Stephen was offered the position of Vice President of BEA Systems’ E-Commerce Integration Division, but instead left to be one of the founders of Internet Incubation Inc., a technology incubator for innovative startups.

 He later joined Inter-Citic Minerals Inc., a TSX-listed gold exploration company with a major project in the People’s Republic of China, as its Vice President – Corporate Communications. In November, 2012 Inter-Citic was sold to Western Mining Group Co. Ltd. (PRC) for $260 million.

 Since that time Stephen has held leadership roles in several public and private companies, and has acted as a consultant. Stephen authored a report for the National Research Council for its National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure. He is Past President of The National Club and a Governor of the National Newspaper Awards. He also currently serves as Honorary Vice-Consul of the Republic of Austria for Ontario.

Robert Andrews

Rob Andrews has deep experience in executive roles of global and local corporations in several industries. His experience includes leading organizations through mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and streamlining operations.

 He has extensive experience in the City of London for ExxonMobil Corporation, Deloitte Consulting and Royal Sun Alliance, where he worked extensively across the UK, Europe and Emerging Markets.  Canadian experience includes leading an acquired Travel insurance business in Quebec for Royal Sun Alliance (RSA), as COO of People Corporation Benefits Solutions (now owned by Goldman Sachs) and leading a consulting business, Realised Change, focusing on the Multi-Employer Benefits market (primarily supporting mergers and acquisitions).  Rob is currently President & CEO of Union Benefits, a multi-employer-focused Pension and Benefit trust administration business, with AUM of c.$1B CAD.  By extension of this role, he is President of Union Benefits Realty, a property-focused investment vehicle, and Chair of a multi-union DB Pension investment committee. 

 Rob is on the Board of the Immigrants Working Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, a Freemen of the City of London (England), a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gold & Silver Wyre Drawers and on the Court (Executive Committee) of the Honourable Company of Freemen of the City of London of North America.  He actively promotes Rugby Union within Canada, including through Oakville Crusaders Rugby Club.

Peter Emelianov, CEO

Peter Emelianov, has almost 20 years’ experience with major Ontario municipalities that includes planning, design and implementation of multi-year projects by leading specialized external consulting teams and training and development of internal staff.  His knowledge of internal municipal operations ranges from idea generation through approval, budgeting, implementation and final operations monitoring while managing risk and liability of organizations.

For 15 years Peter worked for the City of Toronto, including as Project Lead in the Active Traffic Management group where he acted as a transportation services liaison for major projects such as Gardiner Expressway Replacement and the Cherry St. Portlands Project where he prepared council reports, reviewed workplans, and developed traffic impact monitoring strategies. His work has included the long-term planning and implementation of active and sustainable transportation network as Program Manager for The Regional Municipality of Durham, and Active Transportation Specialist and Project Manager/Engineer for the City of Vaughan, where he was responsible for preparing and executing contracts and directing external consultants. In his various roles he has created data storage/retrieval systems, organized data and workflow management to achieve internal efficiencies, developed automated internal data retrieval applications including web-based and chatbot interface.

Recipient of several commendations and an award for innovation, he also served as a co-chair of Municipal Engineers Association Active Transportation Committee and currently serves as a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario 2050 Visioning Process Advisory Group.
